Title: special corner for studs?
Post by: sandrav on July 22, 2009, 05:33:36 AM
Maybe it is an idea to put a special corner on the forum where people can show there stud males?
Maybe like this.
make a corner called studmales
and in this by country studs can be placed??
so for all is easy too see what studs are in what country. max 2-4 picktures? hipscore, pedigree etc.

is this idea?

I like this idea  :) but I think it is not important to sort by country, because people will travel for good stud...
I think it is enough to state the location with all the other stud info

I like the idea and I am sure the forum judges also will love it :P ;D :D 8) ::) LOL
I have to look into the forum to see what possibilities I have to accept posts that do not accepts replies. I do however think that the forum judges should be free to give their honest opinion in another topic (in other place) on the forum. If I advertise a very ugly male here for stud......... people should be free to say it is an ugly male. Too many people already run to studs because they have a famous kennelname, breeder or owner and not because it really is a good dog ::) I think this is the worst problem this breed has at the moment......

m,aybe they can give there opinion in an other topic.
letting them give opinions makes the topic pages long and this makes only big mess.

Yes, for this reason I first want to see what possibilities I have on the forum to accept posts that do not accepts replies ;)

I thought Krissy came up with this idea like a year ago but was shut down. Maybe I read it wrong.

I think you should also have to show some progeny.  Like Irena posted.  ;) One should show evidence of good(offsping) :P

I started the database but didn't get too far...lack of interest, lack of response, fear, who knows.

I may have suggested something similar in the past but not as a locked section on the forum.

I think it is a great idea!

I think this is an interesting idea and not one without some merit.

However, my personal opinion is that if you really have a dog worthy enough for stud you won't need to advertise or post him on a bulletin board as such...

I also agree with this! I think this stud corner (still looking into forum possibilities) will not have those dogs that truly are worthy enough for stud, because those owners know they don't need to advertise. And I know there are studs out there that are only available for good females/owners and not just for any female. Those dogs you won't find in such special advertisement corner. I think that when this corner is up, it will only be used by the people who look for the fame(ous) anyway ;)

For this reason I am looking into possibilities. Good studs do not need an advertisement place. But people who are limited to using chilled or frozen semen should be able to have a starting point from where they can find breeders who can give this service ;)
