Well, we ended up with 2 blue females. I found out that I was given the wrong progesterone test numbers, when Gioia had about a week left before the puppies were born. When we were doing the breedings, I was told she was at 2.8, and later found out that it was in fact only .28. As I'm sure most of you know, that is a huge difference. We did the breedings based off of the 2.8 score. It turns out that Gladimor's semen had to live 5 or 6 days to get these two puppies. So we are lucky to get even these two puppies, and unlucky that I was given the wrong progesterone test score.......

Anyways, both puppies are strong and healthy. Here are a couple pictures of them from today at 2 weeks old. 8)

Congrats on the two pups at least they are healthy. On a side note let me ask you on your progesterone
what numbers do you go off. For example this is new to me, but my specialist starts at zero and can go to 30.  When i'm at 2.8 she urges me to come back about 3-5 days later. She is looking to get it spiked up between 12-20.

Congrats for the two nice puppies Darrel :)

Just curious, why did you do artificial insemination versus natural?

Mari- we did natural breedings.

Erik- the b*tch ovulates when the progesterone level is at 5 ng. The LH spike happens when the progesterone level is between 2 and 3. Ovulation (5 ng) usually happens about 2 days after the LH spike. Once she ovulates (drops the eggs) it takes 2 days for the eggs to mature and they stick around for 2 days once they are mature. That is why if you are doing frozen semen it is usually best to breed 3 days after ovulation. When we bred Tok using frosen semen this is what we did, and when we bred her her progesterone level was around 20 ng. We ended up getting 9 puppies. For natural breedings, we breed on either the 1st and 3rd, or the 2nd and 4th day from ovulation.
