I've always been a crazy dog-lady, and ever since I first learned about Corsos several years ago, I just thought they were the most beautiful dogs.  It was a dream of mine to own one.

I currently have a pit mix, and Draki, my CC, a black brindle.  He was adopted from a local shelter, who told me they thought he was a Neo/pit bull mix.  While Draki is handsome, sweet, and has a typical CC personality and is a fantastic guard dog, he's definitely pet quality, not show quality.  Part of this is because, unfortunately, the shelter also told me they thought he was 10 - 12 months old, when he was actually around 4 -5 months old.  Per their policy, he had to be neutered before being adopted out, and that early neutering has definitely affected his growth.     He is tall and gangly, with very thin back legs (I worry that he'll never fill out), and for a CC, a narrow skull.  I love him dearly anyway, lol.

Because I thought he was part Neo, I started doing a lot of in-depth research on the breed, but quickly realized he was a Corso and not a mix at all.

I've owned all sorts of dogs throughout my life, but I especially love CCs.  Within the next few years, I am looking to acquire a third dog to our little pack. 

I have an idea in my head of the PERFECT dog, my dream dog, so I hope to find one soon.

How old is your CC?
He can very well still fill out nicely. Some dog's age slower than others and can take up to 3 yrs of age for them to fill out.

My dream dog is a large male (nothing against the ladies, but I do seem to prefer male personalities), solid black or gray, and I am just in love with light eyes.  Athletic and sturdy, muscular while still being agile. I have a clear idea of a head-type that I prefer, although I don't quite think I've mastered the "types" yet, I think I lean toward "mastino", or maybe somewhere between lab-type and mastino-like, as I tend to prefer tighter mouths and longer snouts (but not too long), definitely not boxer-type.  Cropped and docked, of course good health, hips and elbows, though that's probably implied.  Tight skin around the neck is a requirement.

I enjoy taking my dogs out and doing stuff with them, so he would have to be steady with a solid temperament.

I've seen pictures of dogs that at least physically closely match this description, and I imagine a good breeder would pay as close attention to temperament as they would body type.

Oh, I'm hoping he will, as he's only about a year and a half old.  I really worry about his hips and joint problems later on in life.

He is still young, it took my male 2.5 years before he filled out. Is he showing problems with his hips/joints?

I don't know if it's just me being paranoid or not, but he and my pit mix play quite rough, and Draki falls often, like his back legs just kind of give out on him sometimes when a lot of pressure is applied- this doesn't ever happen when he's not rolling around with a wrecking ball of a dog lol (my pittie is large for a pit bull at 88 lbs, and just solid solid muscle), never when he's walking or running, just when he's going up against something, you know?  And again, I don't know if it's just me, but I think sometimes it seems like he has just the slightest difficulty standing from a lying down position, but not a sitting one. 

Now, I'm still learning a lot, so I don't have the terms down, but his back dips down slightly with his rump higher than the center of his back - no clean straight line there, so I do worry about the stress of that formation, plus his too-thin back legs. 

He's still pretty agile and has no problem walking, trotting, running, or jumping, and enjoys physical activities, so I guess I'll just have to keep an eye out and hope for the best.
