Newbie in soooo many ways (wink)
« on: July 23, 2010, 06:10:23 PM »
Hi everyone,

I'm new to the site, and new to the breed. I have a 4.5 month old male Corso...and am loving him. I live on the Surrey/Langley (BC) border and would appreciate any and all suggestions/information about the breed. He already has the basics down, but I'd love to explore other obedience training or protection work. If anyone has any ideas on the subject, please don't hesitate to drop me a line.

I do have a couple of questions...has anyone had any luck with a particular brand of dog food. I've tried Medi-Cal (chicken), Origen (chicken), Natures Balance (venison), Natures Balance (duck). He seems to crap between 5-7 times a day (depending on how active he is). It's firm in the morning, and becomes looser the more active he becomes...is that normal? He's also showing signs of an allergenic response, which of course I don't want to get out of hand. And last but not least, can someone recommend a vet that has some experience with Corsos' in the area

Thanks so much,

Dave

Welcome Dave,

We feed Acana/Orijen and we have done great on it. When we are running our dogs more they do tend to get looser stool but it is usually back to normal after they get to chill for a bit. Puppies do have smaller stomachs and intestinal tracks so they do tend to poop more as they can't hold as much so I would expect a more poop until his system has matured.

There is another member from BC that does FR with her cane corsi, Lisa from Antiquity so if you want to check out a club that has a corso or 2 already working I would contact her.

Good luck and have fun with your little guy! Can't wait to see some pics.

Mary

Hi Mary,

Thanks very much for your warm welcome and help. I'll try and track Lisa down and see if she has any additional information. I'll post a few pics as soon as I can.

Thanks again,

Dave
