Hyello from the San Juan Islands *waving :)
« on: August 05, 2008, 05:33:00 PM »
My name is Kim, obviously I am "Khloes Mom"  :D
We live in Anacortes aka Fidalgo Island, "gateway to the San Juans" in Washington state.
Khloe is 2 1/2 yrs old, 117 lbs, 28" withers, spayed and a real pampered princess  ;D
Story of how I found her:
We researched on the internet what dog would be good for us and came up w/ a mastiff.  I always wanted a Neapolitan.  We were looking for a xmas pup.
My daughter found on craigslist  ::) Neapolitan Puppy $500.
When my husband got there (4 hr drive) he was told the dam was 100% CC, the sire was 75% Neo 25% mastiff. The lady we bought her from was not the "breeder."  She became friends w/ the breeder online previously, when the breeder had 14 puppies she couldn't handle and the last two were not sold she was going to give them to the migrant workers who are known to "fight" dogs  :'(.  Sierra talked her into giving her the pups to sell for her and claims they are no longer friends.  So my softy husband brought her home.  (I have a part two to this story I can share later, its pretty funny!)
At the time I was working in a dementia unit and brought her to work everyday.  She is VERY well socialized and quite popular here.  I can't hardly walk her w/o people pulling over & jumping out to see her. When I drive anywhere she sticks her head out the sunroof. Police give me thumbs up, people hoot/holler. Its quite funny.
This past weekend I took her to the Arts festival in town and I think she was the biggest attraction there!  I had people lined up to pet her and ask about her taking pics of her. Maybe next year I should have a booth and charge! ;)
Anyway, I was hoping to see more threads about general personality, home life, traits, etc...I want to know what makes them different from other mastiffs...:)
I have TONS of pics.   More than my skin kids *blush  Life revolves around Precious.

Thanks all :)
Ok, Part two of how I got Khloe hehehe.
I reluctantly had my husband Mickey talked into getting this pup.  He had to drive by himself (I had to work) about 4 hrs each way and he was not thrilled about a puppy to begin with.
So he calls me @ work and tells me he's not going. He's going fishing w/ my dad. No dog period. To top it off he told me to finish up the dishes, so I can clean his fish he's going to catch. AHEM >:(
I was FUMING MAD!  How DARE HIM!
I went home from work, kids gone, so I sat on the couch pouting. I really did want to clean up the dishes, but held back to show him!
He called me on the way home, about 8-9 pm, asked if I had a spot to clean this fish....WHATEVER! Did I mention the stewing I did and planned what piece of mind my father was going to get too?! hahaha.
They pulled in, Mickey came in through the kitchen and said, "how are you gonna clean my dogfish there?"  I said "Clean your own d@$% fish!"
He came back in w/ his dogfish tucked in his coat and said "Yah, I probably shoulda' thrown this one back."  When I turned around just so I could glare and roll my eyes, there she was!  The cutest little blue eyed puppy!  I cried, played, Then I did the dishes  :-*
true story. :)

Thanks for the "welcomes"!!!
This is her w/ my daughter her first night home:

Kelly, Do you have a breeder picked out?
A friend of mine that breeds Neos gave me the name of a great CC breeder in Langley...

Is that Lisa at Antiquity?  I've spoken to her, she doesn't breed very often.  If you know of someone else here in Langley i'd be very interested in checking them out.  so far I dont totally have a breeder picked, but do have some top choices.  Two of those choices would require importing from overseas which is a huge deal.
at the moment I have two wonderful fur babies and am not "allowed" another until I dont have them anymore, but that's a topic I can't even begin to.....
I have a lab/staff cross and a bullmastiff/english mastiff cross.  they are 8 and 5 so I've got awhile to go.

Yes! My reccomendation was going to be Lisa @ Antiquity.  I don't know her at all but I know a friend of hers, Shani of Bella Dolce Mastini.  Shani's great & full of mastini knowledge and a responsible breeder/rescue, so I would completely trust her.

I completely understand the "waiting" for another dog :(
My husband is pretty set on having just Khloe.  I have been offered a male tawny neo recently and think I will die if I don't get it!  This isn't grounds for divorce is it?   ;) jk. ::)
