Hello from Ontario!
« on: February 12, 2010, 04:33:04 AM »
Greetings everyone from St. Catharines Ontario.

Three weeks ago we brought home our new cane corso from a breeder on the Six Nations reserve.  His name is Linus and we look forward to getting some great advice and tips from all of you!  Here are some pictures him for your viewing pleasure.

Also, I've been looking for a Cane Corso specific puppy growth chart to reference and haven't been able to find one anywhere.  Anyone know where I could find one?  At 12 weeks, he is 11 kg (24 lbs) precisely.  Can anyone confirm he is on track with similar aged corsos?

Thanks in advance for all the help!

Welcome on board.
11 kg at 12 weeks seems right on track to me. I do have a growing chart somewhere, but it also really depends a lot on bloodline, food at breeder's and other things.

Dogs are just like kids, they all grow differently.  As long as it's not getting boney you should be happy, if it starts getting chunky you want to cut back.  There is no way to say what it should weigh at any age but you can look at the parents for the most part and get an "idea" of what it might be when grown.

Thanks a lot for your advice..  I have been keeping an eye on his body-fat and have been feeding him accordingly.  He is a healthy little guy!  Just wanted to know see how he is doing with respects to the median corso at his age.. for instance: sure, no two puppies grow the same but corsos will grow much more similarly than two dobeys, st. bernards, etc.  I have found growth charts for pretty much any other breed out there except for Corsos! lol, its not important really, just curious is all.  Also, his mother was an English Mastiff and his father was the Cane Corso.  Both beautiful dogs and he looks like he is taking much more after his father than the mother.  I just wanted to compare with Corsos and confirm this.  Any ideas on where to find one?

Thanks again!
