A bit about my gang.
Nero - almost 8 years old now and still runs about like a mad puppy. He is from Sicilian stock (La Mirage male to a Del Abazia female). He is our lovely pet and fantastic guard dog.
Luna - now 7 years old. Sire is Franco and dam is Michelle (Paco x Fedra).
Allegra - Almost 6 years old. Sire is Panther (Campo dei Cavallo) and dam is Val d'erro Puma.
Carlo - 4 years old. Sire is Archimede and dam is Naomi.
Lidia - almost 1 year old. Sire is Orfeo and dam is Ginny
Kalani - 10 weeks old. Sire is Carlo and dam is Amelia
Van - pedigree unknown. Was dumped in a disused quarry and left to die. When I rescued him he was just over 30 kilos and he was in such a bad way his organs had started to shut down. He is a big Corso so he really was very thin. He had cherry eye in both eyes which had never been treated and was very sore and he had terrible movement, like he didn't know how to walk or run! We think he was crated constantly and had no exercise. We have had him now for nearly 3 months. He is now 52 kilos, has had his cherry eyes removed and is so much happier with his life. He is happy with the others dogs I have and his movement has improved slightly. He can actually run now. He is lucky to be alive really.
I also imported a female called Sienna from Morgan kennels. Her sire was Nuccio and her dam was Lilly. Unfortunately she had 3 pyometra's and in the end she had to have a hysterectomy. It was such a shame as she was really beautiful and would have added real value to the UK Corso population. Sienna now lives with my friend Mick and his family and his Corso Rosco.
I have bred a couple of litters in the past but at the minute I'm more involved in the rescue side of things and the promotion of the breed to the right people here in the UK. I have also registered some of my dogs as blood donors for our emergency out of hours vets. This involves me being called out, day or night with one of my dogs so they can donate blood to help save the life of a sick dog. Allegra is my star donor and has appeared in national newspapers and magazines to promote this service.
We seem to have a lot of rescues or dogs needing rehoming here in the UK. Not sure if the situation is the same in other countries??? It really is getting out of hand here in the UK.
It's great to see some of my UK Cane Corso friends on here, Jo, Maja and Chris.
I'm looking forward to chatting to lots of people with lots of experience on the breed. Hopefully we can take some of your knowledge and use it here in the UK to help move the breed forward.
